R410A Refrigerant Piping

Copper Pipe Connection

Do not use contaminated, dented or used copper tubing. Do not use mineral oil on flare part. It is necessary

to use proper copper tubing for safety reasons as R410A has a higher pressure than R22 or R407C. Do not

use copper tubes with less than 0.8 mm thickness. All piping connections are by the method of flaring.

Install a bi-flow (two ways) filter drier at the liquid line to absorb unwanted moisture in the system. R410A

compressor uses POE oil as lubricant which is very hygroscopic and hydrolysis may occur that will generate

acid when mix with moisture or water.

Flare Work

Use either a flare tool specially for R410A or a conventional type. Head projection dimension may differ

according to type of flare tool. Refer to table below:

Flare end diameter is also different for R410A. Flare section should be uniform or even. Crack on the flare

section or burr on the flare edge is not acceptable. Make new flare tubing again to prevent potential gas

leak.
