Wall Opening Requirements – 16" × 42"
When roughing in the opening for the wall
sleeve, sufcient clearance from the walls and oor
is required. The wall sleeve should be positioned a
minimum of 5/8" from the nished side wall to ac-
commodate the room cabinet. A minimum distance
of 3" above the nished oor is required for return
air.
The rough opening should measure 16

/4" high ×

/4" wide. When using a louver frame, the open-
ing must measure 16

/8". Louver frames
should be used for panel wall and thin wall appli-
cations to provide positive anchoring to the wall.
When an electrical subbase is used, the opening
must start 3" to 4" above the nished oor (includ-
ing carpeting) to match the height of the subbase
selected. The subbase is available in 3" or 4"
heights and has adjustable leveling legs that pro-
vide up to an additional 1" height.
